“I am the Lord your God, I go before you now
I stand beside you, I’m all around you
Though you feel I’m far away, I’m closer than your breath
I am with you, more than you know

I am the Lord your peace, no evil will conquer you
Steady now your heart and mind, come into My rest
Oh, let your faith arise, lift up your WEARY head
I am with you wherever you go

Come to Me, I’m all you need.
Come to Me, I’m your everything

I am your anchor, in the wind and the waves
I am your steadfast, so don’t be afraid
Though your heart and flesh may fail you, I’m your faithful strength
I am with you wherever you go

Come to Me, I’m all you need.
Come to Me, I’m your everything

Don’t look to the right or to the left but keep your eyes on Me
You will not be shaken, you will not be moved ooh
I am the hand to hold, I am the truth, I am the way
Just come to Me, come to Me, cause I’m all that you need”

~ “Come to Me” by Jenn Johnson ~

As I was listening to this song this morning and reading in Mathew, God spoke to me through the passage “Building on a Solid Foundation.”

Lately, I have been struggling with patience and waiting on Gods perfect timing. In my prayers I asked, “Lord what is holding me back from seeing, feeling, and knowing more of you?” ” You know my heart Lord, you know how deep I yearn to know more of you and to feel your presence.” ” Heavenly Father you know me, but I feel there is so much more for me to learn about you. “I want to be mesmerized by you, as you are of me.”

As I read the verse “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock,” (Matthew 7:24) my imagination began to go over the process and supplies it takes to build a solid foundation. In my mind I started putting the pieces together of what this passage meant to me.

I know that when it comes to building there is a process one follows to get the best results. To start you have to have a blue print drawn out so you can have instructions to follow. I picture the blue print to be God’s guidance and plan for me to build a solid foundation (my heart) in becoming more like Christ’s. It’s God’s voice teaching and walking me through step-by-step of His plan for my life. I picture the nails as God’s Word, and the hammer as meditating (driving in) the nails (God’s word) into my heart to make a (solid foundation)

As I continued to ponder the process of building, my mind took me back to Thailand, where a friend prophesied the word “Build” over me. At the time I had no idea why I received the word or what God was trying to teach me.

Then it dawned on me!

God has been so patient with me over the past couple of months at the pace I have been building. It’s me that hasn’t been patient with Him. Everyday God stands beside me, waiting for me to take the nails from His hands to build a foundation of knowing Him more. Some days I take the nails (God’s truth) from His hands and hammer (meditate) hard, but recently there have been more days where I have set His nails aside because I haven’t felt like I am getting anywhere. On those days my impatience’s has made me lose focus on the Lord’s guidance and plans for building my foundation. God has been ready to show me more of Him since He gave me the word build in Thailand. He still hasn’t given up on me!  He showed me this through the passage today; that he has been here all along, even on the days when I was impatient.  I need to stop being impatient and listen harder and longer because HE IS ALWAYS READY to give more of Himself. Yes, He will work at the pace I choose to set, but He desires for more of me, and more of my time, just as I desire to know more of Him.

As I listened to the song again after recognizing what God wanted to teach me, I heard the lyrics with a new meaning. This is what I heard:

Build to me my beloved, I’m all you need, build to me I’m your everything. Go deeper with me. Use my nails (Word) and hammer (meditate) hard. Don’t stop for nothing, lift up your weary head for I am right beside you. I have never left your side. I go before you, my hand guides your every step. Don’t let your hand be shaken to the right or left, keep your eyes on me as I guide you with the palms of my hand.

Your foundation will not be moved. I am your solid ROCK my love and nothing can shake me. You will feel, see, and know more of me if you just keep building. I yearn to show you more, for you are my Bride. Don’t lose hope, let your faith arise. I am the hand to hold, my truth is the way. Build to me, build to me, cause I want more of thee.
