Do you ever think about the fact that your life is not your own and that everything you have is God’s? It’s a pretty mind-boggling thought. I don’t think about it as often as I probably should, but when God speaks it to me, it’s like a giant tidle wave that takes me out and washes away all my fears and inhibitions..
If we really believed that our lives were not our own, how different do you think things would be?
We would probably be willing to step out and pray for that lady at the grocery store who feels hopeless and lost and we are the only ones who know because the Holy Spirit told us. We would probably be more open to helping that person whose car broke down on the side of the road, or we would be more willing to speak truth into the darkest places, because we truly have the words of LIFE! If Jesus walked the earth today, what would He be doing? I really don’t know the complete answer to this question, but I know I would want to be walking with Him. But isn’t Jesus already walking the earth? Aren’t we His very hands and feet? Doesn’t He speak, love, live, heal, grieve and forgive through us? Doesn’t He pray through us? Doesn’t He trust through us?
So, back to our lives not being our own… We belong to JESUS! That is not a death sentence, but a life shifting, mind blowing, heart gripping and totally awesome experience! Honestly, I don’t want to belong to myself anymore. I am so sick of myself.
What if we made the decision to let Jesus truly rule every single thing in our lives? Someone at training camp said something that stuck with me. They said that being a normal Christian is praying for people, loving people, prophecying over people, laying your life down, living like Jesus and having His heart. Those are NORMAL Christian things. Anything less that that is NOT normal! The funny thing is that the world thinks we are so weird if we do those things. I am ready to be a NORMAL Christian and to let Jesus have my life! Not just for 11 months, but for ALL OF IT! EVERYTHING! I wanna be the hands and feet of Jesus! I wanna love like Jesus! I want people to see the heart of my savior when they look at me! Who is with me?!?!
