I love lists. Every kind there is: to-do lists, leap lists, bucket lists, lists-for-the-sake-of-lists lists (say that really fast five times). They’re fun, nonaggressive, and easy to get along with. They’re not generally fussy, and they’re pretty much down for whatever. Even “non-readers” are unintimidated by them. So in honor of my vast love for lists, here are a few that reveal a little bit about me:
A few mundane facts about me:
-
I am 24 years old.
-
I’m a recovering legalist.
-
I don’t have a middle name. (But if I did, it would be Ingrid.)
Things you should probably know about my personality:
-
Most people who take the Myers-Briggs assessment get a four-letter abbreviation of their personality type. There is a total of 16 types. Not a single one applies to me. I took the test twice and got the same two-letter abbreviation both times: XNFX (the X indicates nothing).
-
In happier news, the N and F indicate that I am intuitive and a feeler.
-
I just had a thought; does this mean that I am really EINFJP? Or Divergent? Is your mind blown yet?! (I really hope someone picked up on my young adult fiction reference.)
Things I wish were true about me:
-
Wish: I am an autodidact.
Reality: Although I am regrettably not a prodigy, I do have a moderately impressive photographic memory.
-
Wish: I look exactly like Rashida Jones.
Reality: I don’t look like any celebrity. It’s kind of a bane in my existence.
-
Wish: I speak fluent French.
Reality: I speak rudimentary French even though I minored in it in college. I did dream in French once, though. That counts for something, right.
Things I inexplicably like:
-
Track Changes in Microsoft Word
-
Shivering when I’ve just entered a warm place from the cold
-
The oxford comma
Things I predictably love:
-
Reading. I love it so much I majored in it. Well, I majored in English Literature, but that’s just being technical.
-
Socks.
-
Tomato basil soup.
Things I’m thinking presently:
-
Do I seem pretentious? Oh goodness, I hope not!
-
I can’t believe I spent practically the whole day on this. Admittedly, I wrote it at intervals, but still …
-
Are you tired of lists yet? (The answer to this question should always be no.)
This next bit is not in list form:
In all seriousness, though, I’m humbled by God’s love for me. I was bent on self-destruction, but He blew in and saved me. He’s redeemed me and smiled on me. Everyone should bask in that smile too. It is life-giving.
Romans 8 v.38-39: For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angles nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
