We have heard all the stories.  It seems every Racer has at least one of these experiences while on the Race. I was beginning to think my beloved M Squad and I had evaded this experience.  That is until we showed up to our “hostel*” after a 14 hour bus ride from Jinga, Uganda to Nakuru, Kenya.  As my team and I sat around our dinner table last night, discussing our experiences at the “hostel*” we decided there were to many potential blog titles to sum up what we as a squad had experienced. So that is where this blog comes in. If I were to give you any details about our stay at the “hostel*” these blog titles would all work. Now it is time for you to use your imagination!

Cooking in the garage

My night in the Scooby-doo house

1 clogged toilet and 43 people

There was no room I the inn

Stay out

The night Shrek slept with Trevor

A night in Eunice's bedroom

The night Jenn and Eunice became best friends

This is NOT a medieval castle, Jeff

There's an iron in the fridge

Rats in the ceiling

The night our whole squad almost died on the Race

Shimmy to the toilets

The Nazi Hindu Christian house

Hot showers but no working toilet

Friendship is more important than money

So she thinks we are sending our friends here

Give me a pen

Don't I get a coke?

Sleeping with one eye open, oh wait that's both eyes

Where are the giraffes?

The baby doll that Caity punched off a wall

Are you afraid of the dark?

*The term hostel is used very loosely, as 43 of us actually stayed in some woman’s unfinished house, with creaky bunk beds, a rug that looked like Shrek had been skinned and put on the floor, and as was mentioned before, 1 clogged toilet for all of us.
