I’m not really sure how to start this blog, but I think it will be a wonderful experience. Ever since I can remember I have been involved with a church of some sort. My parents met at bible college and from before I was even born, my dad was a youth pastor. Growing up being a pastor’s kid was an experience that I am so grateful for. Even though it caused a lot of stress and a little heartache, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Being a PK gives you so many opportunities that you might not have if you just attended your youth group. Back in 2017 I had the chance to visit Puerto Rico a few months before our first missions trip there just to get to know the area and have an idea of what we were going to be doing. That trip was what gave me the travel bug. The missions trip that summer was what gave me the mission bug as well. Ever since then, I have been dying to get out of the country and serve people who are completely different than I am. I was only a sophomore in high school back then so I obviously couldn’t just leave for another country. My solution was California. Since 6th grade, I knew that California was the place I was going to go to college, and probably even live. After 6 more years of waiting, I finally left cold, dark Pittsburgh for sunny Los Angeles. I began to attend a bible college called California Baptist University in Riverside. While I was getting a fantastic education, I couldn’t stop thinking about the other countries that were out there for me to see. After COVID hit, I sat in my room back in PA and stressed about what to do. After praying about it for a while, I realized that I should finally go on that long missions trip I’ve always dreamed about. Ever since then, I have only been filled with excitement. I cannot wait to go on this adventure and see how God will use me and the rest of our group.
