Working in
Guachupita really was an amazing experience.  It is weird to
think that I am so used to seeing the poverty in these areas that it
isn’t much of a shock anymore.  Guachupita really opened my eyes
to see that even where there is sadness, disease, and poverty there
is beauty.  For all of the bad things that have happened in this
area there has been some good as well.  These children are
rising up as the next generation, a generation who is more gentle,
loving and Christ following then the previous generation.
Guachupita will constantly be changing and I think these changes will
only benefit this area.

For example while we were there, we were able to build a canal
that was 4ft wide and a few feet deep.  Since we dug this canal
out there will be a group that makes cement walls to preserve the
work we have done and allow for no standing water to build up.
Many lives in this town were touched by our presence.  Children
have learned, just by us showing them everyday, a different
definition of love.  Instead of the usually beating they are
used to getting when they hit you, we hug them so they stop hitting
us and know that we won’t be hitting them back.  We walk away
when the children start to fight and the children don’t like when the
“Americanos” leave.  Thus causing them to stop
fighting so they can spend more time with us.  Adults in the
community have said, many people have told me about being a Christian
but none have ever sat down and talked to me day after day like you
do, None of them have tried to get to know me like you do.

Here is a video I made for our San Juan stay.  However
youtube has been weird for me lately.  It won’t allow me to post
a video with the music that I want and I have had to pick from
a list of their music.  So I picked Go Tell It On The Mountain.
There really wasn’t any songs that I particularly wanted from the
list to choose.  Hopefully I won’t run into this issue in the
future!!

 LOVE!
