Ever since I decided to go on The World Race God has been opening my eyes in many different ways.  I feel like almost everyday we all have eye opening God moments but if we don’t pay attention to them they can pass by us.  I wanted to share some of these moment with you!!

First:  After I said Yes to the World Race I was thinking of all the ways that I could raise and save money for my trip.  If first thought went straight to finding a cheaper way to live.  My friend John had just been given the opportunity to work as an Assistant Basketball Coach where I live and needed a place to stay.  So I offered him the idea of sharing my apartment, splitting the rent, in order for us both to save money.  He agreed at the time but then when he moved down John decided to look for some cheaper places.  Nothing I blame him for but I was fairly disappointed because I was so excited about saving money for my trip.  So I asked my friends around the area if I could rent from anyone.  My boss (of whom I’ve known at this time for about 2ish months) offers me a place to stay.  Not only does he say I can stay with him and his family he offers this to me at no cost!!! As I let this idea sink in I simply cannot get a full grasp on how mysterious God is… Fun isn’t it? How we have such “great ideas” but yet God has better ones!
Ike and Kyla and then Amy and Kyla (my awesome family in Christ)
Second: Sooo I work at a bar at night to try and earn some extra money.  I was really upset one day because one of my fellow co-workers was being really rude and mean! I don’t like when people are mean…soooo I was really upset and getting cranky because I had to close that night which was aout 12 or 1 a.m. and I hadn’t made any money that night.  Well a sweet couple walk into the bar and I go to wait on them.  They laugh and tell me that they thought the sign outside of the bar said $1 Mudslides (a tasty icecream and chocolate drink) however the sign ACTUALLY said $1 decksliders (which are mini burgers).  They ask if we make mudslides and I respond with a yes and bring them each one.  After they are finished I ask how they tasted…their response was don’t say anything but they were terrible!!! We all start laughing, turns out they don’t taste that great without the icecream added in (our bar doesn’t carry icecream!)
We all get to chatting when the lady asks me if I play sports. I tell her I did in college. Her guess was softball which made me laugh because it always seems that athletes can tell what sport other athletes played…. I said yes and we talked sports for a little while.  She asks what I do now that I have graduated college.  I explain that I am working three jobs and trying to save money for this mission trip.  She asks if this is a Christian organization and I explain The World Race to her.  She just smiles and nod towards her husband and says he goes on mission trips too.

Come to find out this lovely couple is very active in their community and likes to help people too.  They are actually opening a teen pregnancy home close to where I live.  In awe I stare at them and think God is so cool!!! The lady offers to help me raise some money, she sells MaryKay and said that if I know anyone who would like to purchase any she would give me all of the profit for my cause!!! HOW GENEROUS!!!! I say to them isn’t it funny that the only reason you stopped in tonight is because you were looking to have a cheap mudslide but instead we meet and get to share our stories!!
Before they leave they stand up in the bar and ask if they could pray for me…we stand there and thank God for how great He is and bringing us to meet one another.  As this couple leaves I am overjoyed and all of my anger disappears and I am overwhelmed with how God works… with how mysterious He is…..

As I look over this entry I think to myself and pray that on this trip God will help us all to touch numerous lives and to show others how gracious and mysterious our Lord and Savior is…
