Lisa, what a beautiful vibrate and loving soul. She lives in the
slums, a nasty run down area but you can tell her heart is so big and
full of love! She came up to me and grabbed my hand and pretty much
never let go. She would only hold my hand and jump on me and only
wanted me to give her attention, and no one else was allowed to have
my attention.
She is adorable and full of life. She kept leading me to show me
different things in the slums. Smiling at me constantly and is just
so beautiful! A beautiful glow from her spirit and a warm heart. As
she was playing she saw barb-wired fence laying on the ground and in a
culture where you throw your trash on the ground and you literally
live in pollution, Lisa grabbed this barb-wired and pulled it all the
way out of any area where anyone would even walk! It doesn’t seem
like much, but I feel like where this girl comes from, that is a huge
thing to see someone do out of the goodness of their heart.
Lisa is 7 years old and truly is beautiful. My little girl made
me want to tear up a few times. As she let go of my hand once she
grabbed around my waist and just hugged me for a good 3 or 4 minutes
(this ended up happening a few times with her). I embraced her and
then held onto her arm . . . She doesn’t seem like she isn’t a healthy
girl, she is so happy and full of life but I know this girl deserves
so much more and no child should go through a lifestyle like hers. My
hands are pretty small and her upper arm fit between the circle my
thumb and middle finger make. SERIOUSLY, put your middle finger
against your thumb and look at how small that is and remember that my
hands are probably a bit smaller then ALL of you (if this helps to
gage my hand size, I wear Youth X-Large batting gloves).
I held this child many times in one day and know that God truly
wants me to love and give so much of my attention to this child. I
told her as I was getting ready to leave “Hasta Manana” and she
already trusts me and gave me a kiss on the cheek and a few hugs
before I left.
I pray that God will help me to mentor this child over the next
few weeks and love on her, give her the attention that she deserves
and be the Lord’s hands and feet to on of his glorious children. I
feel so much compassion to her from only a 4 hour span, I can’t
imagine the love that will grow for this child of God over the next 3
weeks. Please pray with me for her and her place of dwelling, that
the Lord will make the people of this area curious about us and our
efforts and that he might use us to help change some cultural habits
of this Dominican Slum.
