As you all should know, I just returned home from leading a 2 week trip to The Dominican Republic. Our team consisted of 5 girls, plus myself and David Matthew, my co-leader.
This was my first trip to ever lead and so going into it, I really had no idea what it was going to look like. I went through all of the procedures that have been drilled into me about laying down my expectations and I was giving room for God to move.
But, then I remembered the promises that God made to me when I said “yes” to Him to lead this group of girls……
– He told me to expect my leadership attributes to come forth…
– He told me to expect my passions to rise up in new way….
– He told me to expect to be changed….
– He told me to expect the be faced with challenges….
– He told me to expect Him to speak to me in a bigger way….
– He told me to expect to build new life long relationships ordained by Him….
Basically, He told me to expect Him to show up and to prove faithful. The only thing that I have to say about this trip is that once again, He did prove faithful.. He did not make one promise He did not fulfill and I walked away from this trip with another glimpse of my destiny.
It is good for us to lay down our own expectations that we place on things.. But, in all honesty, we need to have expectations. Expectations on God… If God promises you something, then EXPECT IT. If God promises you something, don’t just lay it down and “hope” that maybe He will come through….
Instead, walk around looking for those expectations to be met and just waiting in expectation to give God the glory.
WHEN GOD GIVES YOU EXPECTATIONS…. IT’S OK TO EXPECT THEM
