Working Out on the Race
I have to admit now that I haven’t done well in working out since leaving the States. We’ve definitely had time and space to work out on my team, but I’ve always used it for quiet time or to journal or blog.
When my team really got into working out in Malawi I wanted to join them, but I had just torn my meniscus.
It is incredibly possible to work out each month though. Some months the ministry is building and is a very labor driven Month and so you get your workout in during ministry. Others give you space during the day to do so as well.
Staying healthy and actively exercising will change your race. We sometimes cannot control the foods we eat throughout the race, but we can control working out and actively choosing to do so.
My degree, along with my years working as a swim coach, prepared me well in creating work out plans. However, there is also apps and pdfs that give you plans or videos to follow. Ultimately there’s many ways to workout and do so well on the race. Get your team involved and do it together. It’s a great accountability measure as well and you’ll have more fun.
Till Next Time,
