One week ago today I loaded my belongings onto a bus and rode 3 hours to Lilongwe, Malawi with my host family.
This was the hardest goodbye I’ve said so far during my time on the Race and it is all to do with the wonderful ministry hosts Team Clutch had.
Our ministry hosts last month, David and Catherine Wilson, and Titus and Ashley Fern, are from Arkansas and they welcome us into their community with open arms and an open heart. By the end of the month, they truly felt like our family.
Last month, Team Clutch was able to pour into them, encourage them and pray for them; but, the Wilson’s and Fern’s also poured greatly into us. They blessed us immensely through small things like inviting us to two of the Wilson’s kid’s birthdays. They took time out of their busy schedule to sit and talk with us. Ultimately, they took the time to love us well.
I mentioned this in my intro to Malawi blog, but my teammate Elise and I were able to help homeschool the Wilson’s 4 children. I could not have loved a ministry more. Those children stole my heart and they made homeschooling easy.
How did these children steal my heart?
Zander stole it with his candor and love for sports.
Granger stole it by his love, care and servant-heartedness for those around him.
Esther stole my heart with her ability to communicate and her love for Moana. A constant phrase that just made me smile “I still hate math!”
Asher with her desire to share everything with you (and her stuffed animal).
Malawi was a beautiful country, but I fell in love with it because of these two families ability to love well. Leaving Malawi was by far my hardest goodbye yet.
Till Next Time,
Kara Faber
