This is a story of a little boy named Malachi
_ _ _
Malachi is the son of Angie, a volunteer at the Sandra Jones Center.
He’s 4 years old and completely adorable.

One my first day at the center, some of the kids started doing head stands and so I started playing with them. They asked me if I could do a head stand and I tried and failed, but I did try to teach them a couple of things I’ve learned. Malachi was in this bunch, and over the month I saw him trying to master what I showed them at the beginning.

As a bit of a backstory, all of the kids at the center call myself and the team auntie “name”. It’s a form of respect in their culture just like saying Miss, Mrs. or Mr. before a name is a sign of respect in ours.
One of my first days at the center I come into the lobby and Malachi yells out “Auntie!! Auntie!! Look at my power!”
He proceeds to show me his “power” which is him running and jumping off the couch. Over the next thirty minutes I got to see all of his “powers” which included climbing over the back of the couch, hanging onto the ledge on the wall and doing a head stand and all the while heard him saying “My power my power” constantly throughout.

Over my time there, Malachi and I had a continual argument about one thing. He insisted I’d eaten crocodile and I kept informing him that I hadn’t. At first it was him saying that I’d eaten one crocodile, but by the end of the month it had turned to me eating ALL the crocodiles…. alive…. and they were thus alive in my belly.

This adorable little man stole my heart completely with his antics.
Till Next Time,
