Hey Ya’ll! Sorry I’ve been quiet for a few weeks. Life has been busy! But I’m back and I have a few, or rather several, blogs coming your way.

I wanted to share this blog with you last month, but I never got the opportunity too. I’m doing so now because I want to share with you one of the amazing host’s my team has had on the race.

The first thing you should know about Clinton is that he’s an alumni racer and not just any alumni racer, but first generation A squad World Racer. To give you guys a little bit of how incredible this is make note that my squad is 4th generation M squad, which means that they have gone through the alphabet 3 full times and are down to M since Clinton launched on his race! That’s INCREDIBLE!

Since Clinton finished his race he has moved to Uzhgorod, Ukraine and has been living there and doing ministry the last 5 years. Because he was a previous racer, he now hosts World Race teams when they are in Ukraine.

From the very start, Clinton was awesome. Before we even met him, he helped to plan and organize the transportation from Budapest, Hungary to Uzhgorod, Ukraine for my whole squad (34 people) and our luggage.

Then, as if that wasn’t enough, when we arrived he had pizza and drinks waiting at the church for our entire squad, along with goodie bags for each squad member. (The goodie bag contained a chocolate bar, an apple and a bottled water).

Now, another reason Clinton is awesome takes a little bit of back story. Each month, about half way to three fourths of the way through, we receive our ministry set up sheet for the next month. In Malawi when we got our set up sheet for Ukraine it said that we would be sleeping on the floor and taking bucket showers.

My team was cool with this, I mean we’re headed into month 8, we’ve had experience. Nothing phases us basically. We knew it would be cold in Ukraine so we had the mindset that we’d buy a couple more blankets and huddle together if it was still cold.

Well, it’s our first night, we’ve had pizza and we’re tired. It’s after midnight and we’ve lugged our big packs and backpacks into Clinton’s home to find that we not only have beds (with a comforter) but also towels to go along with the hot shower he has (that also has fantastic water pressure!). Now I don’t know if Clinton put the no beds and bucket showers on the set up sheet on purpose to mess with teams, but it was fantastic.

As if coming in after midnight to find a bed awaiting each of us wasn’t enough, Clinton had also made us brownies. Clinton loves to bless others and he blessed us immensely during our time with him. Whether it was making us the occasional breakfast or dinner, or hosting a ton of people in his home and making a feast for us all. He is by far one of the most generous people I know.

It was such a blessing being able to stay with Clinton. One because he poured into us and blessed us the entire month, but also because we could talk about the race with him and know he understood.

For all you future racers reading my blog, if by chance you’re going to be headed to Ukraine during your race and you get the blessing of being assigned to Clinton in Uzhgorod, just know that you’re going to love your time with him.

Till Next Time,
