I’ve Been Infected…
I’ve been infected with sin, and even as a Christian it is still a constant battle I face to seek God’s strength to choose Him. I can go about my day, I can be nice to people and have the right attitude and still miss the whole point.
Christ loved us enough to die for us. And through His love, we are able to be transformed into His likeness. We are the only version of Christ here on earth. That’s a hefty thing to realize and think about. We are His light in the world.
Before you get stressed out, you should also realize that God doesn’t have to use us. It’s a gift to be His hands and feet.
Jesus gave the great commission before He left earth. In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus said “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Many times I have been guilty of thinking of the commission and my calling in wrong ways. I twist it around in my head and bend it different directions to fit what I want. “These are the people I’m called to bring Kingdom to. It’s in this area.” And it’s true that God has given us specific callings in different areas, but the overall goal is to bring Kingdom. What that means is that each person I come across each day is a person I could share the gospel with. How are they going to hear the gospel message and how incredible it is that we have the ability and gift of a relationship with Christ if I (or someone) don’t share it with them?
So many times I have walked through Walmart and it doesn’t even cross my mind that these people need Christ, or if it does that I could be the one to share it with them. It doesn’t cross my mind that I could be the tool God uses to bring change into their lives; to draw them back to Him.
That’s the wonderful thing about living mission minded. Living mission minded doesn’t correlate to one area. It’s living to bring Kingdom in whatever it is I am doing. If that’s walking through Walmart getting groceries, doing door to door evangelism in Zambia, playing with little children in the orphanages, whatever it is I can bring Kingdom and I can share Christ.
Why don’t we then? Why can we watch all these videos and hear all these stories about the suffering in the world and still walk away unfazed?
It’s because of our depraved indifference. It’s because we’ve been infected.
I was shown this video this past week. It’s by Ellerslie Mission Society and in it Eric Ludy talks about humans depraved indifference. It’s a truly powerful and convicting message and I hope you’ll take the time to watch and listen to it.
I’ve been infected…. And so have you. So let’s do something about it.
Till Next Time,
