It’s Almost Time to Say Goodbye

In a day less than 4 weeks I will be arriving back in the States. Woah! I have to admit the lack of time remaining for my Race is nerve wracking. Twenty seven days left with people I’ve spent so much time with these past 11 months. Eighteen days of ministry left And the crazy thing is that ministry this month is merely living life. We don’t have a host, we don’t have a ministry schedule. It is entirely on each of us to figure out what ministry looks like for us.

Logistically, I have 8 more days in a small town about 30 minutes outside Barcelona. It is actually a huge blessing and answer to prayer. You see, not 3 weeks ago all 34 of my squad was supposed to be camping on the beach in Barcelona but it all fell through. We couldn’t find lodging anywhere! But somehow, we found this airbnb mansion – yes I did just say mansion. The owner dropped the price WAY down for us (adding in conditions that we have to meet). But I have to say it was quite a shock to us all to roll up into the drive and see the Mansion lying before us.

The mansion is a 300 year old villa. It is known as THE house in the town and is extraordinary. There are 6 common rooms, 6 full baths and a half bath, a covered large balcony (that has an awesome view of the sunset), can sleep 18 (more actually but that’s the allotment we have), a nice kitchen with full appliances, washer and dryer, dining hall and pantry. There’s also a ground for camping, walking trails, a jail in the backyard, a pool, tennis court and basketball court, soccer field and garden. There is even a stable near by where we can ride horses. Did I say we are blessed?

In a little over a week, my squad will leave Barcelona and head to Pamplano where we will start the Camino. I am still doing research into what that time looks like for me as I will not be hiking the 130 miles with them.

over the next couple of weeks I will be posting a couple more blogs. Blogs that try to explain what I’ve experienced this past year in as few words as possible (if you want the whole experience story I am afraid you’ll have to catch me in person), as well as what returning Stateside is going to look like.

Please be praying for my squad. Emotions are pretty high right now. We are excited for this month as well as returning home, but there is definitely some bittersweetness here. It’s gonna be hard to say goodbye and that day is coming quickly.

Till Next Time,
