As a fundraiser for my missions trip I am selling t-shirts through Fund the Nations. If you do not know about this organization, here’s a bit about them. Fund the Nations is a company that takes ideas and turns them into epic designs. They give them to you and you advertise and sell the shirts and they let you keep the profit for your missions trip.
Below is a picture of the 3 different colors of the t-shirt design that I chose.
I didn’t come up with idea and choose it just because it looked epic. It actually has a lot of meaning to me. Called to be bold has been a topic that my Life Journey Group at my church has been discussing recently and it has really impacted me. We studied a passage about Peter and John being taken before the Sanhedrin.
Acts 4:8-12 “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: ‘Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Jesus is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.””
This passage shows Peter’s boldness, but he could not have said these things with as much boldness without the Holy Spirit working through Him. The boldness that God has called us to is seen in other passages in the Bible as well such as Proverbs 28:1 “The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” And in Acts 18:9b “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent.”
We have a voice to share the Gospel and we are called to do so even when it is unpopular. Especially when it is not popular. So not only are we called to be bold as seen above, we are called to share the Gospel as seen in Acts 13:47 “For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” And we are called to obey “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” James 1:22.
So obeying the call to share the Gospel and be bold, I come to Romans 10:13-14 “For, ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be save.’ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
