it´s 7:56 pm and I am somewhere in Mexico. The only two places I know I am not is Mexico City and Cancun. Our flight from Miami to Mexico City and Mexico City to Cancun was smooth sailing.  Everything after the Bievenudos sign was not as welcoming. Our first challenge was that we could not withdraw money from our team accounts. Our squad leader Stephanie bought us all tickets to the bus station and said we would sort it out there.  All 31 of us strapped on our gear and set off on our first adventure.  Thinking the adventure was waiting for us in Palenque, we approached the bus station ticket counter with excitement. The theme of the next leg of the journey is ” a few too many”.  After talking with the man for a few  minutes, we discover there are only 19 seats on the next bus to Palenque.  As we were handing over the Visa Card, we hear “cash only.”  The total was  a mere 10,686 pesos. For those not interested in converting, its a $ 1000.  Scambling we come up with enough cash with 10 minutes to spare.  19 of us were on our way.  Team BOLD, g:racers and Dre from Pi were left behind to till the next bus went out in the morning.

Next on the agenda, was sleeping arrangements.  Apparently, bus stations in Cancun will let you stay all night as long as you don´t sleep.  Go figure.  Not down for that, we decided a hotel would be best.  Now all we have to do is find a hotel close to the bus station, that will allow 12 people with 60lbs of gear apiece to crash in one room for a reasonable price. God was looking out for us because he provided eveything we needed.  A close, clean, moderately priced hotel with two air-conditioned rooms with beds for all.  A huge thanks to Kira´s mom; she was our angel of accomodation.  She paid for our stay that night. It was absolutely wonderful .   We are halfway there but you will have to check back to hear the rest of the story.
