A couple of months ago, I was reading “Waking the Dead” or “Captivating”, both by John Eldridge, and he ask me to stop reading and make a list of all the things I love. Stopping to think, I rattled of the traditional but always true, God, family, friends, health and happiness. Then I realized that was such a short list; there had to be more. Immediately, I began to find all the little things in life that I love. The things that only make sense to me and God. After writing for a while, I stopped because the list was neverending. I am discovering now that this in an excellent thing to do. Think about it. Spending time thinking about all the things you love, great and small. How could that be a bad idea. So again, I find myself thinking of all the things I am love for in Antigua, Guatemala in month two of the World Race. This morning I finished a great book “Eat Pray Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert, all the more special because it was given to me by a great friend, Gaila. I decided it called for a mini celebration. Without further ado, I invite you to celebrate with me and think of all the things that you love and are grateful for. I’ll go first! Mind you these are in no particular order.
Hot showers, finishing books, comfy beds, the volcano I see every morning I step out of the door to our apartment, God speaking to me when I least expect it, Girl’s Night Out at Café 2000 watching movies, my family who I miss and love more than anything, all the comments from friends and family on my blog, all the amazing restaurants in Antigua, all the amazing people here in Guatemala who love the Lord, the YWAM staff, Bruce, Marianne, Estuardo, Mark and Dayle and their family, my new church family at Igelsia del Camino, rain, which makes my allegeries better, being in Guatemala, being given this incredible opportunity to learn who I am in Christ, reading in bed for hours, American TV channels, pictures of eveyone from back home, having best friends to call on Skype and talk about important and not so important things, seeing God move in peoples lives here and back at home, being messy and still being accepted, cooking french toast for my team, Playing with kids at Arms of Jesus ministry, teammates who love and support me an share their clothes with me, wedding tuk-tuks(a three wheeled covered scooter with a backseat),rocking out while I wash dishes, other peoples talents and passions, waking up happy to be alive…. I could go on an on … Mostly I am thankful for a God who says ” I love you, I will never leave you, I will always take care of you.”
