"What is your role in the kingdom?" I was unexpectedly asked this question on our first day here in Draganesti, by our contact Raul. He went on to explain that we are all called to do certain things as Christians; for example we are all called to be evangelists (Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 10:10-17, Matthew 9:37-38, 1 Peter 3:15), we are all called to love (1 John 4:8, 1 Corinthians 13:13, 1 John 4:7, Proverbs 10:12, 1 John 4:19), we are all called to serve (Mark 10:45, Romans 12:1, Luke 12:33, Deuteronomy 13:4, Joshua 22:5). But God has uniquely knit each of us; he knows us and our strengths, gifts, and desires intimately. Our God has created us with purpose. Raul's question required more than a cookie cutter answer. He wanted to know how God had uniquely purposed me, he wanted to know my specific calling in life.

Wait a minute, what?

I wasn't sure if I had ever truly thought about the answer to this question, much less was I sure how to answer it in that moment. I told him I wasn't really sure, that maybe it was something I was still discovering. However, the more time I have spent thinking about that question the more I have desired to have an answer. I'm not saying I want God to tell me what I'm going to specifically be doing for the rest of my life, but I am saying that I desire to be aware of my calling. God has created me to love, to serve, to give, to share…but what does that look like in my life?

Here's what I know. There are moments that make me feel like I'm truly alive, truly living the life I'm supposed to be living. Moments like these…

Moments of joy, love, and laughter with little children.

Moments of sharing the beautiful truths of the Gospel with new friends.

Moments of growth and discipleship; continually pointing young women towards Christ.

Moments of pure bliss caring for the little angels of this world.

Moments of encouragement; encouraging young women to follow their dreams, to follow Christ.

Moments of joy through caring for the poor, the lost, and the lonely.

Moments of teaching, being able to firsthand see children learn and grow.

As a Christian I am called to share, love, and serve, and this is how I am called to do those things.I now realize that these moments are what God has purposed me for.

 I am a nurturer. I am a teacher. I am a lover. I am a peacemaker. I am a friend. I am an encourager. I am a leader. I am called.

So friends, now I challenge YOU! What has God purposed you for? How are you uniquely created to share, love, and serve? What is your role in the Kingdom?

Love,

Kara
