"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father." -John 14:12
While Jesus was walking this earth he healed the sick and restored vision to the blind. He performed miracles, and he says that as Christians we can too. Jesus wasn't kidding when he said this. It has been through big, expecting faith in our triune God that my team has witnessed miraculous healing this month. We have seen vision restored, and sicknesses healed. We have witnessed the Spirit captivate the hearts of non-believers. God has blessed us so greatly by allowing us to be his mere instruments in these miracles.
This month we are partnered with a local church. Within our first day or two of being here, we were asked to pray over an elderly woman who began to have heart pains during a Bible study. We later found out that she had a heart condition and has been on medication for it for some time. My team and I circled up around the beautiful woman and placed our hands on her shoulders, her knees, and in her hands. We prayed with expectancy to our God. We could hear her crying as we prayed, we could feel her hands clenching ours, and we could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit surrounding us.
After a few minutes of prayer we stopped and asked her how she was feeling. Our pastor translated to us that the woman had felt warmth all around her heart, and then felt it run through her body. The pain had stopped. Our new friend could not stop crying, thanking us, and hugging us.
After seeing this, another woman spoke up and asked for prayers of healing over her husband, who had glaucoma and was losing his vision completely. Gladly, my team and I once again circled up and began praying. While laying the prayer on thick, I felt prompted to pray that this woman would go home to her husband and her hands upon his eyes would be the healing touch. It turns out that I was not the only one who felt that prompting from God. Prayers continued and one of my teammates was given a vision of eyes being healed. We knew that God was going to heal the eyes of this woman's husband. Once we finished praying, she explained to our pastor through tears that she had felt deep warmth throughout her hands and her eyes.
Only a few days later, we saw both of these lovely women again at the Sunday church service. They saw us and wrapped us in their loving arms as they said "arigato, arigato, arigato!" Their gratefulness came from a very real, very raw place and it was incredibly beautiful. Smiles crossed our faces as we were given the good news that both the woman with the heart condition, and the husband with glaucoma had been healed indeed. Restful sleep had been visiting them, medication had ceased, and vision was restored.
God continues to amaze me, because this was only the beginning. Since that first evening of healing, we have continued to be presented with opportunities to pray big prayers. We have seen continued healing, we have seen people overcome by the Spirit; both believers and non-believers alike. It's true: my God is a god of miracles, and he is allowing me to be a part of those miracles- for that I am so, so grateful.
God, thank you for big prayers and for trust. Thank you that you can use something that glorifies you so much to minister to and bless your children. I pray that these miracles would be used to bring people to you and your glory.
Love,
Kara
