With just under a week until launch I thought I'd do one more round of answering questions, which I will again answer when I return home next summer!
1. What's the longest flight you have ever been on?
a. The longest flight I've been on was a flight from DC to South Africa…18 hours!
2. What is your favorite thing about being home?
a. When I'm home I get so excited to lounge with my parents, drink coffee with them, watch weird old movies, laugh so hard it hurts, and so much more. I love my mom's cooking and I LOVE my church.
3. What makes you feel most connected to the Lord?
a. There are so many things that draw me towards the Lord and allow me to feel connected to Him. I can think of 3 major things for me though. One of those things is nature. When I am exploring out in nature or reading in my hammock I can feel and experience God so clearly. Another is children. Oh my goodness. I love kids so much, and their innocence is so beautiful…I could go on and on. But strange as it may seem, kids help me to better experience God and His love. The third major thing that connects me to God is worship. Holy moly. I love worship. There is just something so surrendering and raw about calling out to God in song and praising His name.
4. What is your favorite food?
a. My mama's cheesy potato soup 🙂
5. What are your thoughts on life after the race?
a. This is a question I've been asked quite a bit…and I haven't even left yet! I have a very open attitude to life after the race. I literally have no idea what the Lord has in store for me, but I trust my Heavenly Father! I know He has big things in store regardless of where I am or what I am doing. My tentative plan is to come live at home for a semester and substitute…but like I said, who knows!
6. How many countries have you traveled to?
a. Not including layovers and pit stops, I have been to 5 countries; Mexico, Germany, Malawi, South Africa, and the good ole U. S. of A.
7. What is your favorite place that you have traveled to?
a. Hmm this is a tough one. I'm awful at choosing favorites and I love different places for different reasons. But I think I'd have to say Malawi, Africa. God taught me so much through that trip and through the people I did ministry alongside. I'm definitely looking forward to going back to Africa! It is beauuuuutiful!
8. How much does your pack weigh?
a. The last time I weighed it it was 42lbs…but I've taken a couple things out since then 🙂
9. How do you best view God?
a. While God is so cool and is many different things to me, the role He plays as my Father is the most prominent to me right now. I am so amazed by his unconditional love, that I am able to trust Him, and that He always takes care of me. It is seriously beautiful.
10. How do you take your coffee?
a. I take my coffee black…….Just kidding, I wish I were that cool. I like creme brulee creamer in my coffee..mm mm mm. Steaming hot or icy cold!
11. What is your most embarrassing moment?
a. My most embarrassing moment..hmm..another hard one. I remember one time during middle school I was out on a run with my now step-sister Anna, and as we passed my house my mom stuck her head out the door and told us to "squeeze our buns" while we ran. I literally started laughing so hard I fell down on the sidewalk. The worst part was…a boy lived across from me that I thought was super cute and he was outside playing baseball. He saw the whole thing!
