One of my friends recently had the idea that I should create a survey filled with fun and thought-provoking questions. After returning home from the field I will then answer each of these questions again to see how my experiences have grown and how the Lord has changed and grown me. In true World Race fashion, I will post the questions in series of 11. 🙂
- Who do you live with?
- I currently live at home with my mom, sister, and step-dad.
- How do you describe home?
- I would describe home as a place where I can get away; relax in nature and soak up the Lord’s presence. I think of comfort, smiles, and lots of laughs. If I’m with my family or dearest friends I pretty much automatically feel at home, regardless of where I am.
- Who do you want to be?
- I want to be a woman so incredibly enamored by Christ that I can’t get enough of Him. A woman who trusts God at his word and knows that his plans are always greater. I want the fruit of the Spirit to be so evident in my character because of the woman I am allowing the Spirit to transform me into. I want to show the love of Christ to everyone around me, including myself. For those who do not know the Lord, I want to truly be burdened.
- What are three foods you ate today?
- Three foods I ate today include an egg sandwich, black bean salsa, and a spinach and cucumber salad.
- What are you looking forward to?
- Obviously I am looking forward to The World Race, but to be more specific I am excited for the details. I am excited to form deep relationships with complete strangers united through Christ, to form solid relationships with the people of each country we visit and to share Christ with them. I am excited to be taken outside of my comfort zone and to see what the Lord wants to teach me; to be challenged and stretched. I am excited for team feedback sessions. I am excited to see more of the absolutely beautiful earth our Father has blessed us with, and to try new foods and experience different cultures. Right now I am also excited for training camp and visiting with my friends that I rarely see.
- What was the best part of your day?
- The best part of my day today was watching the Holy Spirit at work and moving in my heart. I had a rough beginning to my day filled with crazy kiddos, a few of which would not listen! I felt defeated and knew that my yelling and frustration would not fix the situation. I went home on my lunch break and prayed for the Lord to give me strength, admitting how desperately I need Him every second of every day. I prayed for patience, boldness, peace, and a Christ like attitude. When I got back to work everything was different. I was granted the things I had prayed for and saw the Spirit begin to work through me. My whole day took a turn for the better. That room was full of love.
- Where do you want to travel next?
- Well considering I am about to travel to many different countries, I’m not sure! I would absolutely love to visit Israel though.
- What are you reading right now?
- Currently I am reading Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild, and have been thumbing through a couple of other books lately as well.
- What did you wear today?
- Today I wore a pretty customary weekday outfit for me; a pair of black capris and my neon yellow work shirt, complete with a pair Toms and a headband.
- Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
- I honestly have absolutely no idea where I will be five years from now. I could be teaching somewhere in the US, or somewhere overseas. I could be doing full-time ministry anywhere, really. A beginning to a family of my own would be wonderful, but I will trust the Lord with what He gives me, as He gives it.
- What are you learning right now?
- God is teaching me so much right now. He has been showing me many sins and idols buried within my day-to-day life, and how I can give those up to Him. I am learning more and more about being a new creation in Christ, and finding so much freedom in that truth. Another area of my life that the Lord has been at work on is my definition of love, and how I love people.
