In February I was lucky enough to join my daughter and her squad in Rwanda for a week as part of a Parent Vision Trip. My week long glimpse of her incredible mission trip around the globe was both amazing and inspirational. It only took a week for me to create such lifelong memories. I can only imagine the memories created while changing lives in 11 countries in 11 months. Here are a few of mine.
The joy of seeing your little girl has become an inspirational woman.
The smallest of gestures bringing the greatest of joy.
Showering with a bucket of cold water every morning……and ready for another joyous day!
Sleeping in a room filled with a “Symphony of Snoring”…….and sleeping like a baby.
Eating rice, potatoes, and chewy beef everyday…….and never being hungry.
Shoveling dirt……and loving every minute of it.
Listening to the incredible testimonies of the most amazing young people you would ever meet.
Meeting the kind of parents that every child should be lucky enough to have.
The smiles on the faces of Rwandan children.
The excitement of seeing the Muzungu’s (meaning us!)
Jack dancing in Rwandan Church!
Riding on the back of a Moto……..and surviving!
Passing out Bibles at a school…….and knowing that lives will be changed forever.
Watching giraffes roaming wild.
The infamous “squatty potty”.
………..and most of all witnessing our children changing lives and making a meaningful difference around the world.
These are the memories that matter most. These are the memories of love, compassion, friendship and the joy of community. These are the memories that endure, the memories that bring happiness and contentment, the memories made in a week that last for a lifetime.
