Moment of truth: the reason I came in the world race

Each month has brought many people into my life for me to love and cherish. I have great memories that will last a lifetime. But something was lacking. Then I met Maya. She was selling small hand bags in the streets of Kathmandu, 3 for 100 rupees. That is about $1 for each sale. It doesn’t seem like much, but to Maya it was good for her to be able to make anything at all. I didn’t have money at first. I hadn’t taken any out of the ATM yet. So I told her I would buy the next time I saw her. But each time I saw her, it was still the same story. I think she believed I was just throwing her an excuse so I didn’t have to buy. But I did want to buy from her. I began to feel a special love for her. When Piva was taking pictures of me in the streets, she came along and hopped in my photo. It was nice to have a photo taken with her. Then Piva sat down with her to look at her bags. As they were doing business, I felt the Holy Spirit urge me to ask her if I could pray for her. So I did. She said yes, hesitantly, but still allowed us to pray. I asked her what she would like prayer for and she said for her business. Nothing else. So I asked her about her family, if they needed prayer. She told me she had two young daughters. One who was 14. She wanted prayer for their education. So we began to pray for her. At first I prayed with my eyes closed, but then I opened them and looked at her. As I was praying, I could see that she was detached from what we were saying. It was clear she didn’t know Jesus as her savior. When we finished we said amen. She repeated that word. “Amen. Is that how you say it, when you end your prayer to your God?” No, Maya doesn’t know him as her savior. I felt very strongly that the next time I saw her I would share with her who he is and invite her into a relationship with him. I made her a blue crocheted flower. But I haven’t seen her. I don’t know if I’ll ever see her again. But she will be in my prayers. That she will have someone come into her life that shares the love of Christ with her, that she accepts him and her savior. I also pray for her children. And her job. That she would know the provision and comfort of the father. How precious are people in the world, just like Maya. They are beautiful and have a special value. Especially to me.

I challenge you, if you have the opportunity to touch someone’s life, don’t wait. You never know if the opportunity will be the last.

May You delight yourself in The Lord today.
