We met Alex after church last Sunday. She invited us to join her for lunch out. As we got to know her, we learned we would also be doing ministry with her for the upcoming week in a gypsy village. The church we were working out of was located in the village as a way to reach out to the community and offer a place of worship for the people. Alex has been working with the children’s ministry for many years. But she has found it difficult to find people to join her in her efforts with ministry. There is a pastor and his wife and their two little girls. She also has some of her friends join her, which we were able to enjoy this past week. It is difficult because many children come, but not many adults. The adults who do come are faithful. Alex shared how many of the young youth who had come to the church for many years as children, recently turned away from the faith about a year ago. These youth had an unbelieving friend who was in a car accident. They prayed and fasted for this friend to wake up and recover from the accident. They even had friends who were not Christians come to church to pray. But this friend ended up dying. Because God did not answer their prayer in the way they wanted, they turned away from their faith and have not been to church since. I first met them in the street when we were inviting people to the prayer service and campfire after. They said they would come, which got me excited. But when we walked away Alex said that they won’t really come, that they always ya they will, but never do. I told her that I would pray that this time they would. And that night they showed up for the camp fire. Is made Alex very happy, knowing this would give her a chance to reconnect with them. Alex has a huge heart for this community, but she needs people to come along side of her to pray. There is a major spiritual battle going on in this community and prayer is greatly needed. I would like to encourage you that if you are called to pray as an intercessor, then please join Alex in partnering for this community, for the children, the teenagers and for more people to come along side to help in ministry. Watch this video and you will understand why this community is so special to all who encounter it.
