Just a little update on where I’ve been for the past month or so.

I have been in Ethiopia for a little over a month now and my heart is overflowing with love for this place. This place is just so beautiful the people, our home, and everything around us. We live at an orphanage called HopEthiopia. HopEthiopia gives around forty children a place to call home. There are six children’s homes that all have a house mom, who serve as the children’s mother. The base also includes a guesthouse, brick making facility and a training center.

In the guesthouse, there is a kitchen and a common space for all of the people on our squad. The cooks also stay with us and prepare food for us day to day. The brick making facility provides a space for squads and anyone else who is willing, to make bricks that build every building on this base. Near the guesthouse, there is a training center, that teaches women how to sew and some basic life skills to apply in their own lives along with their own businesses.

Since being here I have made so many friends, the cooks especially, they are so fun and they are always singing in the kitchen. Their names are Buzé, Zanet, Mimi and Milto, and they are always so happy. Redwan is the man in charge of the training center, he teaches young women how to sew and also translates for teams who minister to the women. Mango is so nice, he is a social worker. Along with being a social worker, he checks on sponsor homes in the village, takes children to school and cares for the teams who live at the base. Megersa is the children’s village director, I don’t really know what he does but he’s kinda the same as Mango and is always in town running errands for HopEthiopia.

I have enjoyed being in Africa so far and I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for the rest of our time here in Ethiopia!

I love you people.
