Blogging is hard in Africa, for a lot of different reasons.
There isn’t regular Internet. I think I have had Internet three times in the last two months, for a total of maybe two hours.
Last month was a weird month. There wasn’t a whole lot to blog about. We were kind of in limbo.
And there is just a lot of heaviness here. It takes more effort to write down what is happening. It isn’t as easy here to just sit and describe an event or a ministry. There are so many different layers and most of the time; honestly it is just easier to not write.
But I want to let everyone know what I have been up to. So here is my attempt to catch y’all up on my life.
October-We left Cape Town headed to our debrief with the intentions of going to Swazi for the month of November. But we had a little snag in our plan. We didn’t have our passports. They were still in the India Visa office in Jo-Burg waiting to be approved for our month in India. So we prayed and asked God to find us a place to stay until we got them back, all 45 of us. He answered and blessed us with Manna Church.
November- We got to Manna hoping only to have to stay there for a week at most. That week turned into the whole month. So South Africa part 2 was born. Our ministry this month was a little bit of everything. We weeded, washed windows, decorated the church for Christmas, cooked, and anything else the church asked us to do. It was a very strange month because the whole time we never really knew when we would be leaving. We slept in our tents and dealt with crazy windstorms, thunderstorms and some crazy sickness that spread through the squad like wildfire.
We ended the month with one of the fanciest Thanksgivings I have ever had. Let me tell you, our squad can cook! This was also the last month our squad leaders were with us. So we said bye to them at the end.
Which brings me to,
December- We have finally made it to Swazi. We will no longer be going to Mozambique. So as of now we will only hit 10 of the 11 countries. This month we are working with an AIM base in Nsoko. We are in the middle of nowhere. The town of Nsoko is literally just a gas station with a tiny grocery attached. We are the last team that is going to come here until February, so we are doing a lot of the end of year clean up, more weeding, and going to care points to lead discipleship lessons for the kids. Nsoko is a hard place to be. There is a lot of spiritual warfare here and it has hit all of us pretty hard. But God is faithful and we are learning a lot. We are only here until December 19th. And then we don’t know where we are going. We leave for India at the end of December but we have about 10 days of who knows what.
So that is about it. As far as fundraising goes, I only need $650 until I am fully funded!!
