Hi Everyone!!
Wow. It’s 2019. Well, actually, it’s April of 2019. We are already in the fourth month of the year and time is truly flying! I hope this year has been off to a great start for all of you; it has been crazy and busy for me so far! I was fortunate enough to be able to spend about a month at home in Texas over the holidays and I am now finishing up my last semester of school.
I will be graduating from Goucher College this May (in 1 month, 10 days, 10 hours, 12 minutes, and 54 seconds as I’m writing this—not that I’m counting down or anything!). I’ve been putting most of my time and focus into school and work (hence the 4-month gap in blog posting—sorry about that!), but I’m excited for what this next month will bring as I finish up with school and say goodbye to somewhere I’m blessed to now call my home away from home.
I was able to finish my undergrad in 3 years, and they have truly been filled with some of the most eye-opening experiences. From taking Pre-Calculus at 8am my first semester (which I learned to never do again and avoid 8am’s at all costs!), studying abroad in Athens, Greece for four months (where I fell in love with Literature all over again), doing an internship in South Africa last summer, and learning how to live on my own while balancing being a full time student, working part-time, and living life—I look back and I am so grateful for what these and every other experience I’ve had while here at Goucher has taught me. I can honestly say I have grown so much as a person, and I am beyond glad that I chose to attend Goucher (despite not really being able to answer the infamous “What brought you to Goucher all the way from West Texas?!” with anything other than “I fell in love with the campus”).
While I am about to close this chapter in life, I am thrilled for what will come next. I don’t have it all figured out yet, and to answer the infamous questions about life post-grad and post-world race—I honestly don’t know what my plans are. But I am beyond excited to figure it all out, one step at a time. Although it still feels surreal that in a little less than 6 months I will be leaving for my first country on the World Race, I cannot wait to begin this journey and take the next step in my life.
I have been so blessed by all of the support, love, and prayers I have received from family and friends—thank you so much. I wouldn’t be able to do this without y’all!
Love,
Kalee
