Hi everyone!

For those of you who might not know me, my name is Kalee and I am 21-years old! I recently graduated from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland which is about 30 minutes outside of Baltimore, with a BA in English-Literature.

I’m originally from a small city in West Texas called San Angelo (don’t worry if you’ve never heard of it—most people haven’t!). I made the decision to go out of state for college when I was very young, and it was always something I aspired to do. However, don’t let that fool you—I LOVE Texas! It’s funny how much more I appreciate where I’m from now that I no longer live there, but I can tell you I miss the people, atmosphere, and food (yes, you read that right—nothing quite compares to food in Texas!) so much. If you know me, I’m guessing you’ve heard me talk about Rosa’s or Freebirds a time or two (and for all of you Chipotle lovers out there, I hate to break it to you but Freebirds is the *better* version (; ) Although, I have come to really admire Maryland and nothing beats being only a couple hours’ drive from the beach and the ability to drive from one state to another in the matter of an hour (you fellow Texans understand when I say I’m still not used to this!!)

I LOVE to travel and I am so incredibly blessed to have had the opportunities to travel to 9 different countries so far! I first travelled internationally when I participated in a program called People to People for 3-weeks during the summer before my senior year of high school. We travelled to Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and France! To say that experience fueled my desire to travel would be an understatement! Then, during my junior year of college, I studied abroad in Athens, Greece for four months! During my time abroad, I travelled all over Greece including a few islands, Ireland, England, and Spain. Then, this past summer, I did an internship for 5 weeks in Cape Town, South Africa. Now, I cannot wait to add more to my list and to spend time living and loving in Peru, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, Ethiopia, Spain, Montenegro/Macedonia, Greece, India, Nepal, and Malaysia as part of the World Race!

I learned about the World Race through a friend I made while in Cape Town, and I am so incredibly thankful to her for introducing me to this opportunity! The World Race was something I didn’t even know I was searching for, and now I cannot imagine doing anything else. I’ve been struggling for a while to answer the infamous “So, what are your plans after college?” and it has been tough not knowing exactly how to answer that. I don’t know what my plans are in the long run and I don’t know where I want to end up career wise, but I do feel like God has presented me with this opportunity to take some time to grow in my relationship with Him and to explore who I am and who He has called me to be through serving others.

In case you couldn’t tell, I love to write and usually end up writing too much, so I appreciate you taking the time to read about me! If you stumbled on here by accident or just to read about fellow soon-to-be World Racers, then I welcome you and I hope you consider following my journey!

I’m unbelievably excited for this new journey to come and to be able to share it with all of you! Welcome to my bog! (:
