I have been an active world racer for the past week. I have never been out of the country before this crazy adventure and am so blessed to have the opportunity to see what life outside of the Midwest looks like. Here are just a few lessons I have learned recently:

1. Just because the ocean is pretty, be cautious of calm water, jellyfish stings hurt!
2. In order to get internet I have to try to steal it from the Mormons down the street or walk about a mile to the Chicken King, Pollo Rey.
3. Cold showers are best taken in the middle of the day, because if they are taken first thing in the morning, becoming grouchy is inevitable.
4. Children become sexually active around the age of 8 in the Dominican Republic. So even if I see an adorable boy, I cannot hug on him like I would like to. The best thing to do is see and treat them as men, and only allow men to minister to them.
5. Roosters and dogs are enjoyable to eat because they are so annoying in the mornings when you are trying to sleep (no worries, I am yet to actually eat a dog, but have thought about killing a couple).
6. It is better to understand others than try to be understood.
7. Prayer is my life source. Without it, I might as well go home.
8. Translators are your best friends (but you will always be my bestest, Lindsey)
9. When backpacking, fitting things in the second time is way harder than the first (especially when you did not pack the first time).
10. I am blessed to be so loved and provided for, thank you all so very much.

Stories about ministry and photos to follow in the next week. Love you all!
