Standing at the top of the highest temple in Bangkok worshiping the Alpha and Omega, the one true God, was one of the highlights of my month at Thailand.  After a day of going to several Buddhist temples my heart was aching from the heavy atmosphere and watching people worship a metal god whose eyes were closed.   Never before had the idol worship described in the Old Testament have such an impact on me.
By the third temple I decided I was not going to enter the temple because going in them had affected me so much physically and spiritually.  This only fed my stubbornness and gave me more reasons to climb the steps to the very top.  The view was incredible.  A mixture of God’s creation with man’s creation was breathtaking.  I was so moved that I stepped away from the worshippers to the edge and just began worshipping my Savior.  The song God of this City kept coming to mind so I just sang it over and over, claiming Bangkok as a city that will be overwhelmed by what is yet to come.
Later that day I was shocked to find out that the song God of this City was written in the bars of Thailand for the women and men trapped in the sex industry.  Needless to say, I was overwhelmed by the deep meaning of the song.  Never before had worshiping my Lord with music been so beautiful and meaningful.  Now, ever city I go to I will sing that song over the city, claiming the land for our Lord, knowing He has not abandoned us and is our Rescuer and Savior.
p.s. God has also not forsaken Beecher, Cedar Lake, Lowell, St. John, Dyer, Chicago, Crete, Steger, Peotone, Macon, ect. He is the God of these cities! Wahooo!
