Here’s a brief tour of where we have been working and living this month!
This is Ciudad Refugio where we sleep and spend most of our days. The bottom floor is a bakery as well as a homeless shelter. The second floor is where the men in the rehab program stay and the third floor is the same but for women (this is also where we stay). The fourth floor consists of the classrooms for homeschool, a storage/activity room, and the kitchen (our favorite place). The fifth floor has a few apartments for full time people working with the ministry and an awesome open area with a great view that is also going to serve as a soccer field in the near future for the homeschool kids.
The Bakery aka my favorite place aka the home of churros
Here is a picture of people gathering at the start of prayer before a Wednesday night service on the ground floor of Ciudad Refugio. This area doubles as the homeless shelter overnight.
Here is la cocina or the kitchen where we spend A LOT of our time.
Here is the exit from our floor down to the ground level. The platform in the middle is the entrance to the second floor where the men live.
Here is our humble abode on the day we arrived.
And here is our humble abode after laundry day (this is what it looks like all the time).
And here we are watching Ellen stand-up comedy in our humble abode.
Our furry friend Lucas who has no front teeth and lives at the foundation.
Our favorite spot at our favorite coffee shop, Pergamino.
I’m not the best at taking pictures so please check out my teammates blogs to get better visuals! A couple of them are also doing video blogs that are awesome! For example, if you want to see me teaching kids to line dance, check out this vlog by my teammate Kenna.
