So I’m borderline obsessed with this song called “Give me Faith” by Elevation Worship and I wanted to share the lyrics (in red) along with some of my prayers. I encourage you to read the lyrics and think of how they apply in your own life and maybe do something similar where you write prayers that almost respond to the lyrics. It was a cool experience for me (hence why I turned it into a blog). My team heads to Peru tonight and will be traveling for the next three days so please pray for safe travels and our sanity!
I need you to soften my heart
And break me apart
I need you to open my eyes
To see that You’re shaping my life
God I thank you that you broke my heart for the people on the streets in Colombia. I thank you for opening my eyes to their suffering. I thank you for softening my heart so that I can love people who are different than me. Please continue to show me people who are in need of love. I thank you for revealing incredible things to me and showing me the power of your Holy Spirit inside of me and my squad. Thank you for bringing me on this journey.
All I am, I surrender
Lord take my life and use it for your purposes. I want to live to serve you every single day on this journey and for the rest of my life. I surrender all my hopes, dreams, and desires to you. Truly I surrender my entire life to you.
Give me faith to trust what you say
That you’re good and your love is great
I’m broken inside, I give you my life
Even when I don’t understand or things are hard Lord, I want to trust you. Help me know that you are always good and I don’t have to worry. I am your treasured daughter Lord and I am far from perfect but I thank you for loving me anyway. Thank you for showing me your love through the children I had the opportunity to teach in Quito.
I need you to soften my heart
And break me apart
I need you to pierce through the dark
And cleanse every part of me
Thank you for being a light when I feel trapped in darkness. Thank you for your forgiveness that can overcome all of my sins from the past and all that will come in the future. I am made new in you. Thank you for shattering my false self that believed that I had to be successful to be loved.
‘Cause I may be weak
But Your spirit strong in me
My flesh may fail
My God you never will
I may be weak
But Your spirit strong in me
My flesh may fail
My God you never will
God you catch me when I fall and you help set me back on my feet. Thank you for never giving up on me even when I fall short time and time again. I thank you for sending me the Holy Spirit to dwell in me and give me strength. I’m not strong enough on my own but I know that you will equip me because you have called me to serve you. I know that you will never leave me nor forsake me.
Amen.
