We walked from our village to the next, down an imperfect cobble stone road. As we entered the village, we were greeted by the vision of poverty. There rested little mud houses huddled together to form a neighborhood of sorts. Clothing hung on lines from one house to the next. A fire burning in the center. And children running on the dirt ground… Barefoot.

On this 19 degree winter day, I held a crying little boy with dirt and snot smeared all over his face. I asked God to make him warm and calm his fragile heart. I felt a wheeze in his chest and asked for healing. The boy’s breathing slowed as he drifted to sleep while buried in my fluffy blue scarf. The wheezing stopped, the grandfather was almost to tears, and the boy slept while I cradled him in my arms.

Let me paint another picture for you. I have a teammate named Amanda Dorough. She is a vital part of my team. She is creative, smart, and filled with the love of God. She is growing LIKE CRAZY right now and is thriving on the World Race. She has learned so much about herself and the love of God over these 4 months and will continue to learn more as the Race progresses. But she is not fully funded and needs 4,200 dollars to remain on the Race. She only has until the new year to raise the support.

I am presenting you with two needs: I, and the rest of the world, need my teammate Amanda, and the children in the gypsy village need warm socks. So here is what I am proposing: For every 100 dollars donated, my team and I will use our personal money to buy one child a pair of socks. We will do this for 10 days and it will end on the 30th. Will you help gypsy children stay warm this winter? And will you help my teammate Amanda stay on my team?
