(Saw this today… I love when my Daddy speaks in unconventional ways)
Prophecy. Does that word make you cringe? Well it did me before the Race. Some of you are going to think that what I am about to say is crazy. Some of you will think that I am on to something. And others of you will be interested. I hope so…
I believe that we are a prophetic people. Each of us can prophecy in the name of Jesus. So I understand that “prophecy” is a big word. I’ll say it like this: Each of us has the ability to hear the voice of God, and speak what we hear, calling the things of the Lord into existence. Jesus said in John 14:12, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father”. Obviously Jesus heard from the Father and he spoke truth into the lived of others. From His own lips, we can believe that we will do the same… and greater.
So God has given me visions, dreams, and words for people ever since training camp for the World Race. It has been sweet to see an increase in the clarity of the words that He gives me as I press in more, and believe more in His voice. Two days ago, He prophetically spoke through me (I feel the need to go into a testimony now 🙂
So my team and I gathered around one another. Our leaders asked us to each write our names on slips of paper and put them in a hat. We were to draw a name and without looking at the paper, ask Lord what He wants us to say to that person (this would give us no context for the words we received in our head, therefore we could have compete confidence that the words were not our own).
I pulled my slip of paper from the hat, closed my eyes, and asked the Lord to speak. The first picture I saw was a fresh strawberry. It was bright red, covered in dew, sweet, and looked so appetizing. I then heard the words “Fresh Fruit”. I heard God say that He was renewing the spirit of this person and giving them a new freshness. I also heard Him say that this person was going to receive a new “fruit” or “gift” of the Spirit one which they have yet to taste. Asked what else the Lord wanted to say. I then saw the word “humbleness”. I gulped, not looking forward to giving someone that word. But the Lord clarified. He said, “Have a spirit of humility. Humbly come before the throne of your King. I want you to lay down something that you are holding on to. In short: bow down. I then asked, “Is there anything else Daddy?” And He simply responded, “I love this girl!”.
When it came time to share my prophecy and open the piece of paper which holds the name, I was surprised, but also not. The name on the paper was my own… I reread what the Lord has said and I realized that it was dead on!
Here’s why: I have been asking God for a new passion and freshness in my life. A reviving of the soul. Also, I desperately want the gift of healing hands and it has been heavy on my heart to ask for it lately. Humbleness? Well, I needed to humble myself before Him. I have been holding onto my future and the expectations of what I believe God is going to give me when I return home. So, I have erased the timeline I made for myself and I have been dancing on a blank canvas.
God speaks to His people, and sometimes in unexpected ways… Sometimes through and to ourselves. I believe that you are also a prophetic person. God wants to speak to you too. He wants to change lives using your voice, and His words.
So here’s the question: Will you listen and open your mouth? He wants to use you.
