So far, Ecuador has been amazing. I have been soaking in the environment, learning about my peers, and A LOT about myself. I have been in Quito for 4 days now. We have been launching, which means that we have been further preparing for the 11 months ahead of us. We have had awesome worship, fantastic fellowship, needed discipleship, and evident growth. I have also been learning how much I cannot rely on my own strength… This is all in His hands.
Day one on the race, I woke up and took my malaria medicine, only to realize that I should not have taken it on an empty stomach. Let’s just say that I was hugging a toilet and getting rid of all the banana I had just eaten. As I am in between hurls, I say out loud to myself, “Welcome to the World Race”. Even though I was sick, and I HATE throwing up, there was this peace about it… It’s like it just comes with the territory. I’m trying to find joy in everything.. Even if it’s throwing up.
Ecuador has also been SO cold. I thought it was going to be hot here… I was wrong. It is cold and somewhat rainy. I have been caught in downpours on multiple occasions. Fortunately, the area where my team and I are headed is going to be warmer and more dry. We are going to be just outside the capitol city of Quito (where I am now).
Tomorrow, my squad and I are heading out to have an “adventure” day. We are going to the EQUATOR! Yeah, I know, pretty awesome. Our amazing logistics guys planned it for us. Great fellowship will come from this outing. It’ll be our last hoorah before getting down to business on Sunday, when we leave for our ministry sites.
Amazing stories are soon to follow. I will fill you in on what our ministry looks like in the country of Ecuador in my next post (My attempt at a cliff hanger).
I love you all. Know that I am well and that Ecuador is about to have it’s world rocked. We spoke prophecy over this country tonight, and the Lord is going to work in amazing ways.
Grace and Peace,
Kaitlyn
