Coming on the race, I thought I would have terrible living conditions and be sleeping in my tent every night. I just want to say that God has blessed us so much this race, and especially this month.
I am currently living in Cochabamba, Bolivia at a Christian hospital called “Hospitals of Hope”. We are staying in the guest house on the property, of which is absolutely beautiful. We each have our own beds, a bathroom CONNECTED to our room (which has two toilets, a shower, and three sinks), and space to store our clothes. Adjacent to our room, we have a ping pong table room. We also have a washing machine, AND a space in the eating room dedicated to coffee. We are CRAZY blessed.
But even better than the place we are living, is the ministry with which we are participating. We are getting to work with 6 different ministries. We will all be split up and go two by two to the different locations each day. This month, my team is joined with another all girls team, and we will be working together… A LOT of girls, I know (11 in all).
Here are the different ministries:
1. An orphanage with many HIV infected children (girls)
2. An orphanage with many HIV infected children (boys)
3. The burn unit of another hospital
4. Serving coffee/ visiting people at the hospital where we are staying
5. An organization that works with street kids, teaching them skills to work
6. A center for deaf children
It is my first day here and my heart has already broken for the people. I walked into the hospital and saw a man that I instantly knew I needed to talk to. I walked outside and found a lady crying for her sick loved one, and prayed over her. I broke down and cried within the first 30 minutes of stepping into the hospital.
My heart is going to break this month… It’s gonna hurt, but it is going to be so great. God is gonna move. BI’m believing in BIG things this month. Please believe with me and pray. Love you all.
In Him,
Katalina
