What is worthy enough to be “screen saver beautiful” you ask? Let me tell you, our ministry. We were incredibly blessed this month in Thailand. We worked in schools, played silly games with university students, went down to the river to pray, spent time at the beach and were blessed with wonderful contacts.
Our ministry was so much fun, filled with lots of laughter, teaching, learning and some fun songs. Our days were so different every day and were filled with excitement. When we went to elementary schools we would introduce ourselves to groups of students that were sitting on the floor, anxiously looking at us, waiting for the white foreigners to be crazy and sing silly songs. We would sing “Thumbs Up”, “Pharaoh, Pharaoh” and “Waves of Mercy.” The children would follow the actions and all had smiles on their faces, giggle with fits of laughter. We would then play games, such as “Miss Sally Walker.” We would then do skits, “The Good Samaritan” and “Jesus Calms the Storm.” Depending on the time and what schools we went to, we would break up into teams and do games with the children, teach English or Bible class.
The University was one of my favorite nights of ministry that we took part in. We would arrive and break up into pairs and pass out flyers that said “Fun Night” where it included a chance to practice your English with some foreigners. We would then meet up in a conference room and play “Fruit Basket”, “Zing! Bang!”, “Human Pretzel” and “Ninja”. We had a lot of fun breaking the ice and meeting new students and getting them involved in the ministry that our contacts had started up. Our team would then do skits that were related to testimonies that we shared, such as “The Prodigal Son” and “The Good Samaritan”. My favorite part was when we would sit down and visit with the students. It was really fun creating relationships and seeing them grow over the weeks through Facebook and at the “Fun Night”. I really enjoyed this ministry because we got to pour into people our own age. There were people of different religions that came and were interested in attending church with our contacts this upcoming Sunday. Isn’t that incredible? Doors are being opened and the college girls that we have a relationship that live at the church with us, can help continue build up the relationships. I am so excited to see how these relationships are going to grow and what God is going to do in their lives. Please pray for these women, for the friends that are in their lives and the work that God is doing.
Other forms of ministry we did were leading Children’s Church and church with the college girls. This was a great way of stepping up and leading and spending time worshiping God. It was such a treat being able to step up and to soak up time fellowshipping with others. We led Children’s Church like how we led school sessions, and when we did church with the college girls, our contact’s wife helped lead worship. We sung songs and got to soak up time with the Lord. We would sing songs and listen to God. This was a treasured time. We would then share what God spoke to or showed us. It was so peaceful and incredible just listening to God and being able to hear what else God was sharing in others’ lives. A lot of times, our team felt God’s presence and the peace that came along. We were able to focus on Him and not think about all the other things that the world had to offer. One day for church we went down to the river to pray. We had a worship service with our contact family and the time that I spent with God there was beautiful. I was encouraged to go deeper and the time soaking up His presence in His creation.
Screen savers were created during this month. There is a picture that was captured from each day and I am still so thankful for our time in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. We were incredibly blessed this month from all the children and students we came into contact with and the time that we spent pouring into others but more importantly being poured into by others. This month was truly screen saver worthy.
Prayer: To continue going deeper with God.
Continue to pray for our team as we head to our mini debrief in Phuket in a few hours, then on to Malaysia on the 30th for our FOURTH month of ministry.
Also, 3 of my teammates need to reach the October 1st deadline, by October 1st. They need to have $11,000 in their account in order to stay on the Race. The 3 that are below this mark, right now but not for long, are Josi Presley (josipresley.theworldrace.org), Garrett Hammonds (garretthammonds.theworldrace.org) and Michael Clevenger (mikeclevenger.theworldrace.org). If you feel led to support them financially, please visit their blogs and click on the Support Me tab.
Thanks for your continual support and love!
I love you all dearly!
Love, Kaitlyn Michele
