I was so angry to come down to the middle of nowhere Nepal and come do ministry so close to India and so far away from Nepal. I wanted to be in Kathmandu, in the mountains, anywhere where I can wear pants and not be in the heat! I wanted to serve God the way and place I wanted to.
It wasn’t until we came down to Haribur for a few days when I was able to stop focusing on what I wanted to do on the Race and where God was allowing me to go. I was able to look around and see all the blessings that God was giving our team. How many times can you say that you got to live in the jungle of Nepal? Or that Nepal even has a jungle? We get to rely on God to protect us from malaria, the dangers of being close to a border and in a small village, elephants trampling us, crazy insects, our fears of the night, traveling on the mountainous roads to and from Kathmandu, and anything else that we need protection from that we have not heard about. There was a lot of fear that was placed in our hearts when we heard about our ministry location, but we have been battling it with the Spirit of power, love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7) that God has given us.
That gives me great joy that God has allowed us to come to this location and love on his people, serve the pastor and his family, and grow deeper in my faith and trust in Him. I have been stripped of the mountains and my view on ministry, but my love for God has only grown more and more because of how much He loves us. We may not have all had thankful hearts when we first came down here, but after seeing the blessings that God has so graciously rained down on us, we have all turned our hearts into hearts of rejoicing and thankfulness.
I want to have the attitude where I take advantage of every day because I don’t want to miss out on what God is doing in Today. We are only in Haripur for a few short weeks before we travel back to Kathmandu, then to Thailand for debrief. Time is flying by quickly and I don’t want to miss on what God is giving me now.
