Today was Day 1 of being on a new team. I am now on a team with Chip Carnes (team leader), Tyler Vessels, Alison Gray, Amanda Kerr and Ga’Nene Edwards (chipcarnes.theworldrace.org, tylervessels.theworldrace.org, alisongray.theworldrace.org, amandakerr.theworldrace.org, and ganeneedwards.theworldrace.org). It was a day to create memories, and let me tell you, memories were created!
We toured Thailand on mopeds. I rode on the back of a team member’s moped and took in the scenery while we cruised along the land. We went to a lookout point and overlooked the beautiful beaches, pet a sweet little monkey and geared up to explore the streets once again. On our way to our next destination, one of our teammates may have had an almost collision with a car, but saved himself when the car pulled out by braking really hard to avoid a collision. We were blessed by having the driver help us with bandaging and making sure he was all bandaged up before leaving. We had a good conversation with him and one of our teammates stepped up and shared how much God still loves him and that nothing this man has done will keep God from loving him any less.
We then went to lunch right next to where the near collision was, some of the best Thai food that I have had all month! We then left to go to explore some more on the mopeds. Yes, we still wanted to explore after this event. We ended up going to the Big Buddha. On our way there, we ended up getting split up from 2 of our team members.
Oh dear.
We eventually found each other after going down different streets and reunited with everyone at Big Buddha. We walked around praying for everyone there. It was really cool just using this as a time to see what people worship here and how much bigger our God is than just a statue.
After Big Buddha, we decided to return to Koran Beach where our squad was staying to go rest and watch the sunset. The drive back was incredible and more memories were created.
We stopped off the side of the road to pet a baby elephant. He was fed cucumbers, danced, bowed down to say “thank you” and did his sexy pose.
Oh Brad Pitt, you are one sexy elephant!
On the moped with Alison, it was quite an adventure. We were able to spend some wonderful quality time together, learning more about one another as we sped through the streets. At one point, we were cruising along slowly because of traffic, when a dog came up and charged at us. I thought he was going to bite off my leg!
Poor Alison, I screamed so loudly because I was afraid of crazy rabid dog and I couldn’t make the moped move any faster. She was very forgiving.
Oh the joys of this day. We made it back to the beach safely. We all went to the ocean and watched the sun set. It was incredible and one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.
Thank You God for an adventurous family and for sunsets.
Prayers: Ga’Nene Edwards and Chip Carnes both need fundraising for this deadline. They have a few extra days of grace to raise the $11,000 deadline. Please, if you feel encouraged to give financially, donate! You can go to their blogs and click on the Support Me tab to do so (ganeneedwards.theworldrace.org and chipcarnes.theworldrace.org).
Pray for our new team dynamic, that we are one in the Spirit and following what the Lord has for us as a team.
Thank you sweet family and friends!
Love, Kaitlyn Michele
