Leaving India—
I had SO many mixed emotions entering India. With my handful of expectations I was quickly blown away by how the Lord changed that. I was in a 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom apartment with enough space in our living room for us to invite friends over to work out, and enough room for us to invite the entire squad to stargaze on our roof. We lived in a snazzy neighborhood. We had American missionary neighbors that invited us over to partake in their Christmas dinner and made us no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies. Yum! We had sweet Indian friends that invited us in and enabled us to see how they came to know Christ. We were a 12 minute walk from the ministry we worked with. The ministry was so beautiful. They functioned as a family. They believed we were their family. They loved well. They took good care of us. Morong shared stories with us of how they lived by faith. And to truly see it in action was crazy within itself and a blessing. We left part of our heart in India with that ministry.
How God provides—
“Jehova Jireh,” means God as provider. And that’s the name of the ministry, Jireh House. Morong works as a teacher and there are 11 children at Jireh, 2 of his own, and he depends solely on the Lord. He makes what he can and asks that the Lord provide the rest. There aren’t government programs that help to support these children and there aren’t churches that do so either because mentality of such is different elsewhere in the world. And he shared stories of faith and how God ALWAYS provides, in the event that they earnestly seek Him.
So, one day we prayed for the funding for the Children for school. Earnestly prayed with the children and the leaders, having confidence that the Lord would provide. That evening before dinner, a man came and brought money. He just felt like he needed to. We were blown away. Are you serious? It happened. And the Lord provided once again.
It’s my own mistake that I expected anything less than exceptional in India.
India, for my team, was a beautiful story of Blessings, abundant blessings. Of how the Lord speaks in and through us. Of space for intimate Jesus time, of worship, of adequate time with the Lord, of encouraging neighbors, of sweet kids who you secretly want to kidnap and put in your backpack to take home with you, of family, of being treated like a close brother and sister, of sacrifice, of DREAMING BIG about the promises of God & ready to be a part of that, of our first month together as a team and truly enjoying what the Lord had prepared for us. India, oh India. What an incredible month!
