The September and October squads are 2 weeks away from training camp!  Its kind of shocking how FAST time is flying by.  I've been on several outings getting supplies that are needed (backpack, tent, sleeping bag, etc.) for the adventure and have gained an adequate amount of knowledge.

Several close friends, family, and church members have given to this Mission and pledged for a period of time that has put my support up to $4500 thus far.  I am humbly appreciative and grateful for the support financially so far!  The funds came in at perfect timing as my first deadline was Saturday.  I just want to squeeze your hands and thank you for your prayers as this process begins.  I've started sharing with children at Vacation Bible Schools as some churches have allowed their missions funding through VBS to go towards this Mission.  I've also been brainstorming about getting creative and making some usable items that could be sold and help fund the trip.  So I've got just under 11k to raise.

At times, words have become too much.  I don’t know if I’ve gotten this much encouragement in my LIFE.  People saying precious things that I can’t even think why they’d say something like that about me!  I'm just trying to follow the Lord's command…

As the days go by, I'm getting even more anxious to meet my team who will become family over the next 11 months of growing and working together.

I've spent some time in though of "what are the bare necessities?"  What do I actually need to survive?  Many things have started to become sentimental–
fresh, clean showers
air conditioning
the comforts of a tranquil room, with a fluffy bed
face to face conversations with friends and family
iced, clean water
the cell phone
a handy car parked in the driveway

But, theres just something about living out of a backpack and roughing it.  Haha, oh the stories there will be!  I’m fully submitting to go on this adventure with all intentions of serving, and loving, and sacrificing.

This week at bible school I taught music to a group of joyful children.  Much ado energy needed, much love given, many words intentionally spoken in the lives of these children to hopefully enable them to pursue life with such passion.  Two children gave their lives to Christ.

My heart is swell.
I’m anchored in love.

So here I am, a college grad.  Most people seek employment at this point in their lives.  Right now, I’m living with my parents, and seeking a world of adventure through The World Race and I don't believe there could be a more perfect time to go.  Somehow this seems like this has been a long time coming.  This is the only thing I’ve ever pictured myself doing.  Other than being on a great adventure. I don’t seem myself in an office (at least not for the time being.)  I don’t see myself as a zookeeper, or a scientist in a lab.  This is IT.

I’ve come to realize in this short life that I’ve been blessed with that there’s no time to waste.  I’ve got no time to squander with.  Only time to invest in relationships, in adoration of my Lord, in service to others, in Worship of my king, in learning.

The Lord is by our side.
And so I go.

peace & grace,
Kaitlyn
