In February of this year, I accepted my job offer to work at a brand strategy consulting firm called Vivaldi in New York City in September. Through discussions with my small group at school and with friends, I knew I was called to do something across the world during my final summer before I begin my life in NYC. If you know me well, you know I like to be in control of outcomes and to know what is coming ahead. Uncertainty is difficult for me to deal with and is often unsettling. I have always had trouble 100% trusting God and his plan, but the Lord has kept tugging at my heart to be a change-maker, to trust his plan, and to serve others. When I came across this opportunity, I knew that I HAD to go serve in Thailand. There was no doubting or contemplation…only certainty. Now I am fully funded and ready to dive deep into this experience.
2 Timothy 1:7-“For God didn’t give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.” This verse has been of my favorites for a long time as it encourages love and strength in times of uncertainty or challenge. I hope to live out this verse as I take on new challenges in Thailand over the course of July.
Today is the day that I have been patiently but anxiously awaiting for the past 6 months. I leave for training camp in Gainesville, Georgia, which will begin my month long journey. At training camp, I will meet my team and we will prepare for our journey together. Specifically, I am praying to God for guidance, safety, and strength for our upcoming journey. I will head out to Bangkok, Thailand on July 4th to serve and support the people of Thailand. My team will be working with a Place of Grace ministries. If you want to get a little more information bout the ministry, you can explore their website. This journey still feels a little surreal but I am so excited to take on this challenge and allow God to guide me over these next 4 weeks. I can’t wait to drive change in the world and immerse myself in whatever I am called by God to do. God has blessed me with so much and I am so excited to give back and live life to the fullest in Thailand.
However, my biggest challenge to myself over this next month is to 100% trust in God’s plan for my team and I…. to allow him to use me in whatever way he desires to change the lives of others. My team and I would love any thoughts or prayers for our journey and the lives of those we will come in contact with. Thank you again for partnering on this journey with me! See you soon Thailand….
