The World Race has been everything I imagined and more. It’s been exciting, scary, thrilling, hard and so many things in between. Living in third world countries has definitely been humbling. I knew I’d miss home. I knew I’d be going without basic necessities and luxuries America has to offer. I wasn’t expecting to appreciate so many things – big and small about home.
Throwing toilet paper in the toilet instead of the trash can next to it.
Understanding the currency.
Understanding the language.
Not having to worry if I have toilet paper in my bag or not.
Hand soap and paper towels.
Air conditioning.
Peace of mind I’m drinking clean water.
Freedom of speech.
FDA STANDARDS.
Petting pets.
Reading a menu in English.
Ordering a meal in English.
Street laws and order on the roads.
Functioning toilets.
Washing machines.
Not worrying about getting malaria or other foreign diseases.
Target.
Fully functioning electric and water supply.
Grocery stores.
Pedestrians having the right of way.
Having a closet and an actual wardrobe (not the same 5 outfits).
Hot showers.
Watching TV on a TV.
