Hey There,
Family, friends, strangers or even my next door neighbor here is a little about me!
For starters my name is Kaitlin Gonzalez. I am 18 years old and while I was born in Brooklyn, New York I have spent more than half of my life in good ole Virginia Beach, Virginia, where one day you’re at the beach in flip flops (my favorite) and the next you’re in your winter coat sippin on some hot chocolate. I have two brothers (a 21 year old and a 6 year old) which makes me the middle child and lets be honest those are always the best.. right?!
Here are a few of my favorite things…
- The beach (Seashells, Swimming & Soaking up the Sun)
- Anything outdoors
- Starbucks…Literally anything off their menu
- Taking pictures
- Going to the movies (Mainly for the popcorn)… Also my favorite movie is 50 First Dates
- Any show written by Shonda Rhimes .. Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal (It’s a slight addiction)
- Hanging out with my HUGE, CRAZY family
- Being with my friends
- & SMILING!! (“I just like to smile, smiling’s my favorite” -Quote from Elf)
BUT now let’s get down to the nitty gritty… WHY WORLD RACE/WHY NOW?
I had just finished my first semester of college, getting all my general education classes out of the way. I was stuck on what classes to take next and ultimelty what major I was going to decide on. All together my life was in a rut! As I seriously considered and prayed on what to do I came across many options… The navy? Army? Pick a trade? Go for a wide ranged degree? Finally do a missions trip?? Ever since I was little I wanted to join a missions trip and I thought why not now?
I started searching for something that really spoke to me and after looking and praying and looking and praying WORLD RACE popped up on my browser. The moment I found this my heart was set.
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me” -Isaiah 6:8
I applied to this amazing, life changing (SO out of my comfort zone) trip and after what seemed like the longest couple of weeks in my life I WAS ACCEPTED!!! YAY!
I have put my complete faith in God and that this is what I was called to do with the next chapter of my life.
SO WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
In August 2016 I leave to start off my 9 month trip to the Balkans, Philippines and South Africa!
