On the way to Greece a few weeks ago, I was awake in the early morning, before the sun had rose. We were somewhere in Bulgaria and, let me tell you, the stars were shining that night. I could see so many stars, but in some places, it looked like there were no stars. Of course, I knew there are still stars there even though the human eye can’t see them from earth. The Lord showed me that those hidden stars are like parts of people. You don’t meet somebody and know their whole life story. You don’t know their quirks right off the bat. But, in time, those things come to light. Just like how, eventually, these stars that we can’t see will be seen. Then, when I was walking to get wifi the other night there were no lights and the stars were so bright. He reminded me again that everyone has a story and a reason why they hide parts of themselves or lie about different aspects they wish weren’t real. He also told me how every person is a star ( I know, so cliché), and we all shine in our different ways, and, if we allow Him to, He’ll go to all the dark places we want to keep hidden and polish all the dusty parts.
I like to picture different rooms in our hearts and maybe some look spic and span clean, but then there’s that one closet that is dusty and the key hardly works in the key hole because it’s hardly ever opened and so much dust has collected in the doorknob. When you open the door you can see the dust coming off every surface. And once you get inside there is a bunch of crap that you never even really wanted, but someone gave you. You felt the need to keep it and never really dealt with it, but now it’s spring cleaning so you can’t leave this gross room all dirty, so you put on your gloves and dig in. The Lord wants to help you clean, He wants to open the windows and let fresh air in. He wants to get the Pledge© and dust all the shelves and dressers. Then, when it’s all cleaned, He wants to sit back with you and look at this beautifully clean room. He wants to re-decorate and make this a whole new room for whatever you want, not the random stuff you stuffed it with before.
1 Peter 2:25 says, “For ‘you were like sheep going astray,’ but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”
