After 4 days of travel, we finally made it to Romania! Our original flight plan was to fly to Fort Lauderdale from Atlanta, and from there to Europe, but Irma decided to switch up our plans. Instead, we had an 18-hour bus ride to New York, where we flew out of the JFK airport. We flew from there to Lisbon, Portugal. We were so lucky to have a 12-hour layover and get to explore Lisbon. That was such an unexpected blessing and was so much fun to walk around. Then we flew to Bucharest, Romania. From there, we took a train ride to Dragansti-Olt! YAY! This is a rural area and the train ride here was mostly fields and little farm houses in the distance. They depend on farming and there are only 12,000 people in the city. We arrived on Thursday (9/14/17) afternoon and slept then, on Friday (9/15/17) we had our first day of ministry!!

The ministry we did was bringing glasses to a village about an hour away. But, before we gave them glasses we sat them down and asked about their lives, their spirituality, and families. The idea was that we provided for their physical need of sight, and their spiritual need by giving them a Bible. Almost all of them grew up orthodox with a mix of witchcraft and superstition. They are steeped in religious traditions, and not a personal relationship with Christ. When I asked what they prayed about, mostly all of them said just when they are hurt or their family members were hurt. They did not understand that Christ wants a personal relationship and wants more to be more than just the healer, He wants to be the comforter, confider, grace giver, lover, etc. Our ministry was able to bring this to light for some of the visitors. To see pictures of this ministry, you can go to Hope Church Romania on Facebook! This is the Church we are partnering with, that has already been incredible!

Today (9/16/17), we found out what ministry for the rest of the month would look like for our team. My team is going to a nearby village and doing church ministry. We will be involved in kid’s club, evangelism, house calls, Sunday morning church, and more!

First week is over!! Cannot believe it! Stay tuned for more stories to come!
