I was always taught when I was growing up that if I was listening to anything other than gospel music (even contemporary Christian) that it was a sin and I was going to Hell…………………………………….. BUT LET'S GET REAL.
Music is a wonderful way to reach people. Music stirs up emotions in people, and emotions are what relationships consist of, and we are supposed to want to have a relationship with the Lord.
Personally, I like to listen to my NEEDTOBREATHE Pandora station 90% of the time, with some country music thrown in there. I am not going to lie I have some friends that are not Christians by any means. I have some that believe in God, but don't believe that they have to live a certain way in order to please Him. These friends do not always listen to Christian music, so I have found a way to witness to them using the songs that I have heard them listen to lately. I have found that if you don't directly persecute them on what they listen to, people are more responsive and open to listen to what you have to say.
Just to show you guys what I mean, I've pulled a few parts of these songs, and I'll be relating them to my relationship with Jesus!

— I knew I was lost before I accepted Christ into my life. He came in and showed me how to live my life for the Glory of God! I am SO glad that now He is mine. I want Him to use me in immeasurable ways on this missions trip. Only the Lord can make everything better, and He has continues to touch my life and I am confident He always will!

— I know that whatever God is doing in me, and in my life, He isn't finished yet but only He can take me all the way. I want to love him, and He wants me to love him. He loves me, and thinks about me every single day, as He consumes my thoughts every single day!

— There are so many places in this world that need to see Jesus. That is what this whole trip is about. And just as long as Jesus goes with me, and leads me to where I need to be, I will literally go wherever He is calling me! And I cannot wait to see what God can do in all the places I will be going on the world race!

— This basically says it all. God gave His only son, Jesus dies on the cross for our sins. So that we may be saved. Wow. A love like that is unfathomable, but I am so grateful that someone cares enough about me to want to see me succeed in this wicked world, and I would do anything to spread that kind of love around the world.

— All God wants to do is love us, and if we let Him love us first we will learn how to love ourselves and be happy. He knows everything about us, including all our troubles and stresses and worries, and he wants to help! He wants to take care of all our problems for us, if we just let Him!
Basically, my entire life revolves around the Lord. I am COMPLETELY OBSESSED with Him! And all I want to do is share that love with everyone I know, and even people I don't. I have had a blast twisting the meanings of these songs as well as other to show my friends the love of the Father! The best part is they never see it coming, and they can't walk themselves away from it 😉 Mwuahahahaha!
So I encourage everybody to try something like this. Instead of putting people down for things, find a way to relate anything and everything to the Lord. Then maybe show them a different way, or see if they are open to trying something new! It will pay off! 🙂
