Have you ever had a passion burning inside of you?
Something that inspired you so much that you would spend hours everyday perfect your art? Something you did as a child that instilled joy, wonder, and love?
But as the years go by, life gets in the way.
It’s too childish, there’s not enough time, and the passion you have burning inside of you starts to go out. Your raging fire becomes smaller. And smaller. And smaller.
Until all you have left are embers.
For years I had embers in my life. Until someone came into my life and blew on those embers, reigniting what once was lost. Stoking the fire until bit-by-bit, it became what it used to be.
Funny enough, one of my passions is magic.
I know, I know it can be controversial to some people. For me, it was a hobby my dad and I have always done together ever since I was a little girl.
It was our special thing.
He would show me a magic trick and I’d be in wonder and awe. Then a few days later (I wanted to bask in the wonder for a bit), dad would reveal the trick to me.
As a kid, magic helped me understand God.
You see, as an audience member, you see me handcuffing the assistant, tying him up in a bag, putting him in a box, putting chains on, locking locks in place, and in 3 seconds poof! I disappear and the assistant reappears. All of a sudden you find me locked up, in a bag, with a different dress on.
To me, that looks like faith and trust. You had faith and trust that I could perform the trick and amaze everyone including you in the stands. In the same way, we have faith and trust with God in our lives. When we follow down his perfect and pleasing path it can sometimes look like poof! Wow we got there.
But the awesome thing is what I see from my perspective as a magician.
Oh, you thought I was going to reveal my tricks huh? That’s the #1 code of magicians, we never reveal our secrets. (;
But, the thing to note is that there is an elaborate amount of behind-the-scenes and other tricks up my sleeve that’s happening to make the illusion possible. In the same way, we can be in awe of our Lord knowing He has a huge intricate plan laid out for us. We might not see what He’s doing, I mean we really can’t cause that’s God for yah, but we can have faith and trust that He will blow us away.
Faith, trust, and pixie dust is what Peter Pan needed in order to fly. For me, I need faith, trust and the Trinity.
Let’s watch and be amazed as Dad puts on the magic show of our lives.
Are you ready to be amazed?
I am!
Abra cadabra.
