Wow, hi guys!! So I’ve been staring at my computer screen for the past few days trying to conjure up some words that could explain the amount of excitement, love, & gratitude that is running through me right now.. A few months ago I was just another person scrolling through The World Race Instagram, wondering what it would be like to give up my life up to serve & now here I am… I can’t even comprehend this but, welcome to my very first blog post!!
“God wants to use me?”
It’s crazy how we think we have everything figured out. As believers we’re fully aware that our lives are completely dependent on the will of God, but I think sometimes we forget that our will is not His will. We get ahead of ourselves assuming we know exactly where we’re going and exactly how to get there.. That is until God’s good and faithful will for our lives intervenes. For me, this was The World Race- God’s good and faithful will for MY life.
There’s a lot of factors that led me to applying for The World Race (which I’m sure future blogs will share), but there’s actually a piece of scripture in Matthew 6 that has walked me step by step to surrendering my life, it reads.. ” Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is your heart will be also.” There is something about that last little verse that has kept my heart hanging for months..
For where your treasure is your heart will be also.. because of this truth, I want to get my hand’s dirty for the Lord. I want to travel the world for His great name. I want to teach, love, & serve for Him. I want to go ANYWHERE He tells me to. I want my treasure to be in Heaven & Heaven alone, where it will never be destroyed or stolen from me.. I want to fully surrender!!
So this is me saying YES to the unknown
blessings that god is leading me into..
What is The World Race gap year??
It’s a 9 month mission trip to 3 different continents & 4 different countries.. Instead of heading straight to college I will be leaving next September for this mission trip!! I was placed on route four, so I will be serving in Guatemala, Thailand, Malaysia, & Swaziland w/ roughly 55 other people!!
Our goal as missionaries is to become the hands and feet of Christ as we deeply invest in the communities that we are able to serve. As we take on discipleship we will be guided by Matthew 10- “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. freely you have received; freely give” ..
My heart is overflowing with emotions right now.. I’m extremely excited but also extremely nervous to be leaving behind my friends and family. However, I know that God’s plan for this part of my life is crazy big & I can not wait to see everything He has waiting for me!!
My blog site is where you will be able to find all my updates leading up to my departure, my monthly updates during my trip, & also a place for you to donate to me if you feel led to do so..
If you have any questions about my mission trip, what we will be doing, other ways to donate to me, etc. Please don’t be afraid to reach out!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my very first post, it seriously means more to me than you know! Have a wonderful day 🙂
